Basic Playing Instruction For Electrical Guitar
When you decide to learn to play the electric guitar, your first step will be to find a guitar that is comfortable, of good quality, and has no damage or missing parts. No matter if you buy used or new, having a solid instrument to learn on is essential; it is very hard to learn good technique on a broken or faulty guitar. Getting advice from a seasoned player is often the best way to choose a guitar.
The first thing you will begin to work on when you learn to play is your picking technique. The pick is a small, usually plastic tool held between forefinger and thumb used to evenly strum the strings on a guitar. Holding a pick correctly will help alleviate hand fatigue and allow you to play better and more quickly.
Once you have mastered holding a pick, you will begin learning notes and chords. Single string notes are easiest, of course, and you may want to start with these until you get used to properly fretting on the guitar neck so the notes come out cleanly. After that, you can use a simple chord chart to begin learning different notes, positions and chord structures.
